Arena History

My great grandfather was a Hungarian immigrant in early 1900’s.  He arrived with $2.65 in his pocket and an old school work ethic with dreams of becoming a dairyman.  In the early 1940’s he purchased land from CF&I Steel Corp on the  St Charles Mesa in Pueblo County to expand his operation.  After his passing my grandfather Louis Chantala bought, and sold dairy and beef cattle, rodeo stock and exotic birds; provided a place for junior cowboys and cowgirls to pratice and perform, sold the land that became the first multimillion dollar subdivision in the County (Lakeside Manor Estates) and furnished land southeast of Pueblo that produced 6.8 million tons of gravel, supplying asphalt for regional road projets for more than two decades.  We currently have the lease on this piece of ground and have previously run cow calf pairs and some broodmares on.  The 28 acres where he ran Chantala Ranch and Feedlot, Chantala Rodeo Co and Mesa Rodeo Corp.  is where I was lucky enough to inherrit Chantala Rodeo Co and 20 acres of the land. This is where we are in the process of building our facility.  In fact the exact 20 acres that my grandfather produced numerous Junior Rodeos at and was among the first to offer awards and prize money to kids!  I am blessed to be the one to keep history alive!
