Brandon is taking the "rodeo road" slow this year due to having several colts to ride and train and doesn’t have a finished horse to rodeo on at this time.

He has, however, entered some circuit rodeos
on a mare named
, Honey owned by Joe and Carla Spitz of Lamar, CO and trained by Brandon.  Honey is an exceptional, 4 year old mare that we’ve had the opportunity to have in our barn this year.   We are so grateful to Cade, Stephanie (Brandon’s sister) Bailey and Shay for giving us this opportunity.   Honey makes training horses easy.  Brandon qualified Honey for the 2006 American Quarter Horse Association World Show in just four shows.  The last show he went to in Lincoln, Nebraska was a double judged show.  One judge placed him to win the class and the other judge placed him second giving Honey enough points to be qualified.

This year, out of the very few rodeo's Brandon and Honey have gone to, he has had wins at Canon City, CO,  Greeley, CO/Tour Rodeo and Colorado Springs, CO/Tour Rodeo (currently 4th in average).  Brandon plans to go to more of the circuit  rodeos and the bigger calf ropings such as the Spicer Gripp Memorial in Hereford, TX and the Amarillo Showcase in Amarillo, TX.  He has a couple real nice colts started and  hopefully, will get them finished and ready to go for next year.  Brandon is so talented I hate to see him not rodeoing…he is too good not to be going.  Finishing colts  isn't easy and it takes a lot of time and patience, but he will get it done.  While he’s at home, he thoroughly enjoys training his horses, as well as, outside ones.  He has one particular horse we are very happy to say we have been a part of....it is a Mustang gelding named Ringo that belongs to the Canon City Correctional Facility.  He was adopted from the BLM Adopt a Wild Horse and Burro Program and was started and trained by Brian Hardin of Canon City, CO, in conjunction with the Inmate Horse Program.  Through Brandon's promotion of the BLM Adopt a Wild Horse and Burro Program he did a photo shoot and they asked him to rope on Ringo for the shoot.  Brian started roping on Ringo prior to the shoot to get him ready.  Brandon was a little skeptical but to his surprise, Ringo performed real well.  After further discussion, they decided to have Brandon start tying down calves on him.

Brandon has purchased a lot of cattle from Cade and Stephanie and enjoys riding his colts on the ranch checking on his investment.  But I think what he enjoys most is giving roping lessons.  He always tells me, "I love to help people."  He enjoys watching
his students and wants them to do well.  I hope he is enjoying his year off, because
I plan to get him back on the trail soon.......
